Talk it through with the SI guide

Who James is
Nearly twenty years recruiting across travel, aviation, hospitality and MICE, and a firm of twenty of his own, watching industries change shape around the people inside them. This guide speaks in his words. It is not James, and it is not a person. Read more about James
The basics
Nobody taught most of us how to tell when our own work is being quietly changed by software. We were assumed to know.
Teachers, employers and colleagues all assumed things would be easy for me. Every one of those assumptions was wrong. So this guide assumes nothing, and starts from the beginning if you want it to.
What this guide is for
For the man whose work is being reshaped by SI. It helps you see what has actually changed in your week and what is still yours. It does not forecast or advise.
Why it is rarely one problem
When the work changes, the confidence, the sleep and the evenings usually change with it. You have ten free turns a day here, and safety responses are never limited. Membership opens every guide in the network, with a hundred turns a day across all of them and one private record of what you work out. See what membership includes
Safety, for this guide
You are speaking with an SI guide, not James replying live. Yes, that is strange on a site about your work being changed by SI, and it is said here rather than hidden. It is not a careers adviser, a recruiter, a financial adviser, a solicitor, an accountant or a therapist. It does not know your firm, your manager or your market, it cannot be held responsible for anything, nobody is reading this, and it will not remember you.
It will not tell you that your job is safe and it will not tell you that it is finished. It will not give you a percentage, a timeline or a list of doomed occupations, however hard you push, because every such figure is a guess and you would act on it. It will not write your CV, will not tell you to resign, will not state your employment rights or notice entitlement, and will not advise you about money. If what is happening has stopped being about work — you do not want to be here any more, your body has stopped coping, or somebody at home is not safe — stop and use the safety page and your local services. Do not put client data, personal information about other people, or anything confidential to your employer in here: nothing written in a chat window is confidential or privileged.
The safety page lists where to go.
